From NHS Project Manager to R&B Artist: Rosemary Nwodoh's Journey (2026)

Imagine juggling a demanding day job as an NHS project manager, only to transform into a soulful R&B artist by night. Sounds like a plot twist from a feel-good movie, right? Meet Rosemary Nwodoh, a 26-year-old from Chatham, who seamlessly switches from managing healthcare projects at Kent and Canterbury Hospital to captivating audiences with her neo-soul melodies under the artist name Chidimma. But here's where it gets intriguing: her journey to music wasn’t a straight path. Rosemary, who’s been singing in choirs since childhood, only began recording her own music during the Covid lockdown—a time when many of us were reevaluating our passions. And this is the part most people miss: she actually ditched her final year of a law degree to pursue a career in healthcare, later joining East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. Was this a risky move? Absolutely. But was it worth it? Rosemary admits she ‘fell out of love with law’ and found herself drawn to creative opportunities instead. ‘Lockdown gave me the time to seriously consider music as a career,’ she shares. While balancing her NHS role and finishing her degree remotely, she began writing and recording songs with her brother at home. ‘I started thinking about what truly brings me joy and how I could share that with others,’ she explains. Her project management skills, surprisingly, have been a secret weapon in her music career, helping her navigate the business side of booking gigs, studio time, and planning recording sessions. With singles and an EP titled Love, Chidimma already under her belt, Rosemary has performed across London and beyond. But here’s the controversial question: Can someone truly excel in two such contrasting fields? Rosemary’s story challenges the notion that creativity and structure can’t coexist. ‘Writing and performing are my favorite things to do,’ she says. ‘For now, I’m just enjoying the ride and seeing where it takes me.’ So, what do you think? Can a 9-to-5 professional also thrive as a passionate artist? Let’s debate in the comments!
