Bold claim: Sacred Reich just crowned a new drummer, and the timeline around their shifts is as dramatic as their riffs. Here’s a fresh, fuller take on the story, keeping every essential detail intact while making the narrative clearer for newcomers.
Sacred Reich, the Arizona thrash veterans, have officially welcomed Eduardo Baldo as their new drummer. Baldo, a Brazilian drummer most recently with Los Angeles-based Red Devil Vortex, sat in for Sacred Reich’s European tour dates in November, performing with Hatebreed.
On Wednesday, December 3, Sacred Reich shared a public update announcing Baldo’s official addition to the lineup. The band praised him for crushing the European shows, described him as a great person who fits seamlessly with the group, and expressed excitement about continuing forward with his distinctive style, energy, and power behind the kit.
As part of the announcement, the band also celebrated Baldo’s birthday, inviting fans to wish him well.
Sacred Reich also offered a brief look ahead: they’re finishing the mix on their new album, Into The Abyss, and planning European dates for July and August 2026, signaling a bold, forward-facing year ahead.
Context around the lineup shift includes the departure of longtime drummer Dave McClain. In late October, McClain posted that he decided to move on from Sacred Reich, adding that he would remain active in music—whether touring, recording, teaching, or playing in his home studio.
Sacred Reich had previously announced McClain’s exit on October 20, stating that he was no longer a member and wishing him the best. McClain had joined Sacred Reich in 1991, contributing to early 1990s releases including the A Question EP (1991), Independent (1993), and Heal (1996), before leaving to join Machine Head in 1995.
He later rejoined Sacred Reich in December 2018 and helped produce their 2019 comeback album Awakening, released by Metal Blade Records. Awakening, produced by Arthur Rizk (notable for work with Cavalera Conspiracy, Power Trip, and Code Orange), was described in press materials as a timeless collection blending blistering thrash, heavy grooves, standout solos, and socially conscious lyrics—capturing broad themes relevant to the era.
The Awakening project was engineered by John Aquilino and mastered by Maor Appelbaum.
Sacred Reich’s public post introducing Baldo appeared on their official Facebook page on December 3, 2025, detailing his European shows and welcoming him to the band.
