WWF Consultancy: Craft Report on Locally Led Climate Adaptation – Apply Now! (2025)

Climate Change is Local: But Are We Listening? That’s the question at the heart of WWF Netherlands’ (WWF-NL) groundbreaking initiative, the Voices for Just Climate Action (VCA) program. As part of the global World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) network, WWF-NL has been a trailblazer in conservation since 1962, operating in over 100 countries to protect biodiversity, promote sustainable resource use, and foster harmony between people and nature. But here’s where it gets controversial: while many climate solutions are designed from the top down, WWF-NL believes the most effective strategies come from the communities most affected by climate change. And this is the part most people miss: local voices aren’t just important—they’re essential for equitable and sustainable adaptation.

WWF-NL’s VCA program is a bold effort to amplify these voices, empowering frontline communities to lead their own climate adaptation efforts. By prioritizing locally led adaptation (LLA), the program ensures that those on the frontlines of climate change aren’t just beneficiaries but active architects of their future. This approach isn’t just about fairness—it’s about effectiveness. When communities own the solutions, they’re more likely to succeed.

Now, WWF-NL is seeking a consultant to document the impact of these locally led initiatives in a comprehensive report. This isn’t just another report—it’s a chance to showcase how community-driven solutions are reshaping climate adaptation globally. The consultant will dive deep into the VCA program’s successes, challenges, and innovations, providing actionable insights for future climate action. But here’s the catch: the report must not only highlight what’s working but also challenge the status quo, asking tough questions about how we fund, design, and implement climate solutions.

Why does this matter? Because while global climate talks often dominate headlines, it’s the local actions that truly move the needle. WWF-NL’s report will serve as a powerful advocacy tool, demonstrating that inclusive, locally led adaptation isn’t just a nice idea—it’s a necessity. But this raises a provocative question: are we ready to cede control to local communities, even if it means rethinking traditional power structures in climate finance and policy?

Here’s what the consultant will do:

  1. Desk Research and Synthesis: Dive into existing VCA documentation, project reports, and evaluations to uncover stories and data that illustrate the impact of locally led adaptation.
  2. Impact Analysis and Insight Generation: Assess the program’s outcomes against global adaptation frameworks, identify lessons learned, and formulate insights for future advocacy.
  3. Report Drafting: Craft a compelling, evidence-based report that integrates local perspectives and narratives, ensuring it’s both accessible and impactful.
  4. Finalization and Delivery: Deliver a polished, ready-to-publish report that meets WWF’s high standards for clarity and influence.
  5. Engagement and Alignment: Collaborate closely with the WWF-NL team through regular check-ins to ensure the report aligns with the organization’s vision.

Assignment Details: Remote work, starting November 15, 2025, and ending December 30, 2025. The consultant will report to WWF-NL’s Inclusive Conservation/VCA Team.

Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in climate change research, evaluation, and report writing.
- Deep understanding of locally led adaptation principles and participatory approaches.
- Strong analytical and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas.
- Experience working with international development or environmental organizations.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.

How to Apply: Submit a detailed CV and a brief proposal (including methodology, timeline, and budget) to Diana Frances by November 7, 2025. Use the subject line “WWF-VCA Consultancy Application.”
